Message from the headmaster

Welcome to Sainte Croix des Neiges !

At the start of each school year, it is always an immense pleasure to see new pupils arrive at Sainte Croix des Neiges. We know that they will receive a warm welcome from their older peers and our teaching staff. We will soon see them marvel at such an exceptional location, in the heart of the Alps of Haute-Savoie. Our proximity to Lake Geneva in Switzerland and dynamic cities such as Geneva, Lausanne and Annecy, make the Abondance valley a location destined for success and personal growth. This environment, with its blend of disciplined schooling and access to high-quality activities, is conducive to an education that fills pupils with a sense of humanity, stimulating body, soul and spirit.

Sainte Croix des Neiges is also an international school that welcomes students from all backgrounds in a positive environment.

The school motto “Confidence and Charity” resonates with more meaning today than ever. The Sainte Croix initiative is modelled on this motto, inspiring us to encourage pupils to give the very best of themselves.

“Confidence”, because we know that each of our pupils has a calling for something greater, and because we can help them discover their individual qualities to go even further. We instil this confidence in every pupil, with high standards for work and life, and by guided study and fulfilling activities. The confidence that the families place in our school is a commitment that encourages us to impart on those in our care the opportunity to follow the Way and the Truth and the Life (cf. John 14:6).

“Charity”, because “greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13). The commitment of the teaching and educational staff demonstrates this gift imparted by every adult in the school to ensure that the pupils receive the best education. Since Charity goes beyond mere tolerance, this initiative of Catholic Teaching enables our staff to draw on the treasures they seek to pass on to the pupils. Considering the pupil with charity enables our staff members not just to “accept” weaknesses, but to overcome them in order to offer the token of academic success and human fulfilment, with gentleness and firmness. Charity never strays from Truth…

This is the crux of the Saint Croix de Neiges initiative, which I am happy to lead. Teachers and staff, parents and pupils, let’s keep this goal of Confidence and Charity close in our minds!
